Alumni reunion

Loughborough University Centenary Physics Alumni Reunion

About 140 guests spanning over 40 years attended the Department's first ever alumni reunion on Saturday 13 June 2009 and the proverbial good time was had by all. The Department was open in the afternoon for alumni to see what has been happening and to renew old friendships over a glass of bucks fizz. Prof Sasha Alexandrov gave a talk on how the Department had grown and changed over the years, and labs were open to visitors. We then moved over to Burleigh Court for a reception and a 3-course dinner. Various mementos including panels of photos were on display. The former Vice Chancellor and President of the Institute of Physics, Sir David Wallace, gave a speech on the history of the Department; former lecturer Dr Bob Perrin then shared many anecdotes about the Department and the people in it in his own inimitable style. The evening finally petered out at about 1.30 in the morning, with some staying to see the University centenary events on the 14th. For photos see our photo albums and the Loughborough Physics alumni Facebook group.

Thank you to all who attended and made this such a special event. We hope to hold another such event in several years time. Please make sure we have your contact details if you would like to come. But all alumni are welcome to drop in at any time.
