The Women’s and Gender Studies Group was set up in May 2005 to bring together people from across the university with an interest in women’s and gender issues. We welcome anyone (staff and students) with an interest in women’s and gender issues and are always happy to meet new members of the group.
We hold monthly meetings where people can present their research, or hold discussions on topics of interest to the group, in an informal and supportive atmosphere. If you would like to attend or present your work please contact one of the co-organisers by email. This is a valuable opportunity to present work in progress as well as completed work and be part of a supportive cross disciplinary network. It is also a useful forum for practicing conference presentations. There are also regular socials.
We usually meet on the first Tuesday of every month at 1pm. All meetings last for about an hour (usually a 20 minute paper followed by discussion).
Aims:
- Share research – work in progress, conference papers etc.
- Discussion
- Networking and support – socialising!
- Disseminate information about conference announcements, funding etc.
- Organise events on campus such as a one day symposium on International Women’s Day 2006.
If you’d like to know more, or if you’d like to be added to our email list, please contact one of the co-organisers.
