Courses
The Teacher Education Unit at Loughborough University offers four secondary subjects in Initial Teacher Training, Science, Physics with Maths, Design and Technology and Physical Education. All four courses, when completed successfully, will lead to the award of Post- (or Professional) Graduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) with Qualified Teacher Status. The Post-Graduate Certificate in Education carries ninety credits at Masters Level.
A short Physics course called a 'Subject knowledge Enhancement Course', which lasts 26 weeks, runs every January. This can be used to enhance the subject knowledge of a student prior to going on a PGCE, but the student must have been offered a PGCE place.
