British stars head to Loughborough for EAP meeting
Britain’s Olympic Bronze medal heptathlete, Kelly Sotherton heads a strong contingent of British talent to sign up for the Loughborough EAP meeting on Saturday 16 July.
Sotherton is set to take part in three events in her build up to the World Championships in Helsinki, the High Jump, 200m and Javelin.
Loughborough graduate Nicola Sanders, who just missed the World Championship 400m hurdles A qualifying standard by 1/100th of a second at the AAA Championships last weekend, will again take on fellow former student Lee McConnell in one of the best looking events of the day as both come up against in form American TaNisha Mills.
The men’s 400m hurdles features rejuvenated Matt Elias against Britain’s 2004 Olympian Matt Douglas, and Kenyan Julius Bungei, whilst on the flat one lap event Malachi Davis is another looking for an A standard for Finland.
The 200m has a strong international flavour with Dan Batman, (Australia), Mark Schneeberger (Switzerland) and Irish Record Holder Paul Brizell taking on AAA finalists Graham Beasley and Ryan Mosely.
The Men’s Hammer will open proceedings at 10.45am, with track events starting at 12.30pm. Tickets are available on the day, priced £4 for adults and £2 for concessions. Further information about the event is available from Ben Aherne, by calling 01509 226120.
