Papers invited for 2008 Loughborough Antennas and Propagation Conference
Papers are invited for the fourth Loughborough Antennas and Propagation Conference (LAPC), being held at the University in March.
LAPC 2008 will feature invited talks from world experts, research posters, a technical exhibition, free computer simulation workshops and excellent networking opportunities for attendees. Taking place from 17 – 18 March, it will be held in the University’s Burleigh Court four star Hotel.
The conference is run for the good of the electromagnetic community with a not-for-profit ethos, enabling the cost of attending the event to be kept to a minimum. This year the Technical Programme for LAPC is being organised by Queen Mary, University of London.
- The conference will include special sessions on:
- Medical and healthcare applications of microwave, mm-waves and THz
- Antennas and propagation for body-centric wireless communications
- Focused session on metamaterials: Theory, modelling and applications
- Mobile antennas from an industry perspective
Papers for the conference are now invited. Submissions should be made via the conference website, http://lapc.lboro.ac.uk The deadline for submissions is 26 November 2007.
Loughborough University has extensive expertise in the field of antennas and propagation. Research into wireless communications has been conducted at the campus for more than 20 years and in 1998 this was further enhanced by the creation of the Centre for Mobile Communications Research in the Department of Electronic and Electrical Engineering. The group specialises in antennas and associated devices for mobile telephony in GSM, GPS, UMTS, UWB, BluetoothTM and WLAN applications.
It features a range of modelling tools and measurements facilities, including network and spectrum analysers, two anechoic chambers suitable for full characterisation of antennas and handset measurements, and a Dosimetric Assessment System for standardised Specific Absorption Rate (SAR) measurements.
Since its inception, the group has built up an international reputation for the quality of its research on both academic subjects and industry based projects.
The Queen Mary, University of London Antenna and Electromagnetics Group has enjoyed a distinguished reputation for innovation in electromagnetic modelling of antennas, antenna theory and measurement for 40 years. In recent times, the group has expanded modelling led research into the areas of antennas for mobile handset applications, Ultra Wideband (UWB) antennas, semi-smart base-station antennas, quasi-optically fed active integrated millimetrewave antennas, Electromagnetic Band Gap (EBG) antennas, Left Handed Metamaterials (LHM), quasi-optical system design, on-body communications, magnetron and chaotic oscillator design and bioelectromagnetics.
The group’s philosophy has always been high quality electromagnetic modelling supported by high quality measurements and it has built an extensive Antenna Measurement Laboratory, which now covers the frequency band from 500MHz to 345GHz.
